From The Desk Of

I guess we’ll find out soon enough. It’s official. Coveted NBA Free-Agent, Lebron James, is coming to the Miami Heat along with Chris Bosh to join forces with Dwyane Wade. What an unprecedented circus that was yesterday on ESPN eh? A one hour special dubbed “Decision” where Lebron would announce live on tv which team he would be joining for the upcoming NBA season.

It appears now that Lebron James will become the most hated man in Cleveland sports history, surpassing the hatred that many Cleveland citizens have for Art Modell. The images of people burning Lebron Cleveland jerseys and merchandise and the booing and jeering in many Cleveland establishments as Lebron announced he was leaving their beloved city, was something I’m sure James didn’t expect……at least not to that extent.

The Cleveland Cavaliers majority owner, Dan Gilbert, was quick to rip into James with an open letter published on the Cavs website with sentiments like:

“This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown “chosen one” sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And “who” we would want them to grow-up to become”

and directing this towards the Cavs fans:

“You simply don’t deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.”

Now that’s some anger and I can understand why.

Did the Miami Heat just become the New York Yankees of the NBA and essentially buy themselves a championship? The “Evil Empire” of the NBA? Not so fast. As of this writing the Miami Heat have a total of 4 players that are guaranteed to be on the roster this coming season. How will the Heat fill in their roster with quality players? You’re guess is as good as mine and I for one will be interested to see because we all know the anointed “3 Kings” cannot play 48 minutes every single night. And let’s not forget who the back to back defending champions of the NBA are, and will remain that until they are proven otherwise. That’s right……the Los Angeles Lakers.

Until next time……
